Promo Intent and Usage

Promos are used for notifications or to draw attention to information that is critical for readers to know about the page topic. 

On the MDC website, promos are often used on the left side of Regulations and Permits pages with the message "Check the Code" to refer readers to the full Wildlife Code of Missouri. A link to an example page is provided below. 

Promo Design Guidelines

• Promos work best in 2- or 3-column page sections.
• Generally promos are used in a column next to the main page content, often in the smaller space of a two-column section with 66/33% or 75/25% layout. 
• Page designers can choose an icon that relates to the topic. Icons can help draw attention to the promo, but an icon is not required.
• Avoid using icons for promos that fill the full width of a page.

Promo Content Guidelines

• Use concise wording for the title; no more than 2–5 words is preferred.
• Keep the body text to just a few lines with wording that is clear and simple.
• If needed, add a link to direct readers to pertinent page.
