Join our team of MDC Conservation Educators at the Boone County Nature School for a fun and exciting lesson in the basics of fly tying. A pivotal part of fly-fishing is selecting the right fly. There is a seemingly endless selection of fly patterns and materials at your disposal. It’s almost overwhelming, but the good news is tying flies is easy, it’s fun, and with a little practice, you will quickly have a collection of unique, customized fishable lures.

Join MDC Conservation Educators at the Boone County Nature School for a fun and exciting lesson in the basics of fly fishing. Have you ever wanted to learn how to rig and fish with a fly rod, tie your own flies, find fish, and have fun in nature? Well, this might be the program for you. We’ll cover the basics of fly casting and rigging, as well as learn the basics of fly tying and how to “match the hatch”. This program will consist of classroom lessons followed by hands-on practice in casting and fishing in our educational ponds. This program is designed for adults ages 18 and over.
