Lineville, Iowa -- A free workshop for land managers on how to improve wildlife habitat management will be offered 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 at the Lineville Community Center in Lineville, Iowa. The workshop is a bi-state cooperative program organized by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Iowa regional offices of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Among the topics covered will be bobwhite quail management, managing timber for oak regeneration, timber stand improvement, oak savanna restoration, prairie restoration, prescribed fire as a management tool and an overview of U.S. Department of Agriculture programs that might offer cost-share opportunities.
Also included will be a tour of the John and Sharon Orvis property four miles west of Lineville. The Orvis farm includes woodland and prairie restorations that showcase native plant habitats in north Missouri and southern Iowa.
