Kirksville, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites women to get hands-on outdoor skills training at its Discover Nature: Women’s Basic Firearms program from 5:30 – 8 p.m. on Sept. 17 at Sugar Creek Conservation Area (CA). Participants will learn the basics of safe firearm shooting with a shotgun, rifle, and handgun, with shooting practice at the shooting range under expert supervision.
There is no cost for the program and all firearms and ammunition will be provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own firearm. Pre-registration is required.
“This is an event for women ages 14 and up to come out in a relaxed environment and learn about handguns, shotguns and rifles,” said MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Rob Garver. “Women will have an opportunity to do plenty of shooting with some helpful hints from experienced shooters.”
