Are you considering participating in one of Missouri’s greatest traditions, deer hunting? Do you want to grow your skills in the deer woods and learn proven tactics to increase your odds of success? The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a public deer hunting program (Deer Hunting Basics 101) at 7:00pm on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Education Center (SOTH CEC).

Topic covered will include:

- Deer Hunting safety and regulations

- Deer biology

- Deer habitats

- Deer hunting Strategies

The program will be held in conjunction with the youth US Army COE mentored archery deer hunt held on October 17th and 18th. While the “Deer Hunting 101” class is open to the public, hunters and mentors selected to participate in the US Army COE mentored archery deer hunt are encouraged to attend.
