Natural Features Description:
This natural area features acidic seeps (a rare wetland natural community type) and a high-quality Ozark headwater stream and its surrounding watershed of restorable pine-oak woodlands. The area supports 10 plant species of conservation concern, most of them associated with the rare seeps. The area supports at least 258 native plant species and fish and invertebrate species associated with good quality headwater streams.
This natural area is within the Mark Twain National Forest. From the junction of Highway 60 and Highway B in Carter County, go about ¾ of a mile and turn south onto Forest Road 3753. You can park along this Forest Road to access the natural area just to the west. A map and compass are recommended to explore the area. Hunting is permitted. Please avoid walking through the fragile acidic seep natural communities that have easily damaged saturated (mucky) soils.
