A replica of the 15-star American flag flown during the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804. In commemoration of the July Fourth holiday, staffed MDC facilities and offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, July 4-5, including those in the St. Louis area.

St. Louis area MDC offices close July 4-5 to commemorate July Fourth holiday

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — In commemoration of the July Fourth holiday, all staffed Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) facilities and offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, July 4-5. The July 5 closure is to comply with a statewide executive order signed by Gov. Michael L. Parson declaring state offices be closed on that day.

The closure affects the following MDC offices in the St. Louis metro area:

  • St. Louis Regional Office on the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in St. Charles
    • The rest of the area, lakes and the bait shop vendor will remain open for normal operating hours
  • Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center in Kirkwood
    • Nature center grounds and trails will remain accessible under normal operating hours
  • Columbia Bottom Conservation Area Visitor Center in Spanish Lake
    • The rest of the area remains closed due to flooding
  • Rockwoods Reservation Visitor Center
    • Area grounds and trails will remain accessible under normal operating hours
  • August A. Busch Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center in Defiance
    • All facilities will be closed
  • Jay Henges Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center in High Ridge
    • All facilities will be closed

Non-staffed MDC conservation areas, accesses, and unstaffed shooting ranges will not be affected by the closure and will remain accessible under normal hours of operation.

All MDC offices and facilities will resume normal operating schedules starting Saturday, July 6.
