SPRINGFIELD Mo -- The importance of getting children outside to experience the natural world around them will be the focus of an upcoming Missouri film premier on Tuesday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.
“Mother Nature’s Child: Growing Outdoors in the Media Age” explores nature’s powerful role in children’s health and development through the experiences of children and adolescents. This 58-minute film will inspire viewers to think about the important role nature can play in the development of children and families.
Following the movie, information will be available about how parents, grandparents, youth leaders and teachers can get children in their lives more involved in the outdoors.
Registration is required for this free event, which is for ages 12-adult. Call 417-888-4237 to register or for more information.
The film premier is part of Missouri's Children In Nature Challenge to recognize communities and families that create opportunities for children to get outside and discover nature.
The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is located in southeast Springfield at 4601 S. Nature Center Way just west of US 65 off US 60.
