KIRKWOOD, Mo.—Butterflies are certainly beautiful to watch, but they can also act as important pollinators. Did you know you can discover the secrets to attracting butterflies to your yard? The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Powder Valley Nature Center will present Butterfly Gardening for Pollinators, a free program Thursday, June 6 from 7-8:30 p.m.
Nature enthusiasts Steve Craig and Amy Short reveal the magic behind creating a successful butterfly garden with their exclusive “get a G.R.I.P.” method. It integrates Goals, Research, Installation, and Patience into a cohesive strategy that will help make a landscape to entice butterflies a reality.
But the showy butterfly is only one part of this pollinator’s life. Craig and Short will guide participants through the process of creating a habitat that will host all four parts of the life cycle of this popular insect for even better results. Guests will also receive a plant to help get them started at home!
