JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) welcomes new exhibits to the Runge Conservation Nature Center in Jefferson City. In order to install these new displays, the nature center will temporarily close its permanent exhibits from Nov. 28 – Dec. 24 so that crews can renovate and update displays.
The four-week exhibit closure will not affect trails or other activities at the nature center. Programs will continue as scheduled, including popular What’s going on events every Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and access to trails and adjacent nature exploration areas will remain open.
The new exhibits will open in time for holiday programs in the final weeks of December, although painting of a new mural will not be completed until March, 2017.
Runge Nature Center offers many opportunities to enjoy and learn about nature in their library, and wildlife viewing area. These attractions, along with the nature gift shop, will remain open to complement nature programs and activities at the facility.
Located on 112 acres just north of Highway 50 in Jefferson City, Runge Nature Center is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, and 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Thursday. Except for the above exceptions, trails on the property are open daily from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m.
