MDC's Springfield Nature Center plans Halloween event
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Some well-known superheroes will make a surprise visit to the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC’s) Springfield Conservation Nature Center to provide two nights of Halloween-style fun on Thursday, Oct. 24, and Friday, Oct. 25, at the nature center's “Halloween Happening.” Individuals of all ages can participate in this event, which will be 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each evening.
Individuals will be led on guided trail hikes where superheroes will provide entertaining and educational lesson about conservation. The last hike is scheduled to leave the nature center building at 9 p.m. Children are welcome to wear Halloween costumes that are suitable for walking the trails at night. The event will be insightful, but not frightful.
While hikes are taking place on the nature center’s trails, activities will be going on in the building. Indoor activities include games, crafts and special exhibits.
The event is free to the public and there is no registration. Call the Springfield Conservation Nature Center at 417-888-4237 for details. Information is also at mdc.mo.gov/springfield. The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is located at 4601 S. Nature Center Way.
