Warrenton, Mo.—The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will temporarily modify hours of operation at its unstaffed shooting range at the Reifsnider State Forest in Warren County starting Monday, Dec. 7. The change will be to accommodate a construction project on the site.

The range will be closed Monday through Thursday from Dec. 7 until March 1, 2016. The exact completion date may be effected by weather conditions. During this three-month construction period, MDC will install a new boundary fence and construct a new containment basin behind the backstop.

The range will continue to be open for public use Friday through Sunday during this time. The construction work should in no way impact public use during the days the range is open. The range will also be open for use on Monday holidays during this period, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan 18, and President's Day Feb. 15.

The Reifsnider range offers target distance from 25-100 yards for rifle and pistol shooters. Normal operational hours of the range are 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset seven days a week, except for Monday mornings, when the range is closed until noon for routine maintenance. There is no fee to use the range.

Reifsnider State Forest is located southeast of Warrenton. It can be reached by taking Route M east two and a half miles, then going three miles south on Schuetzenground Road.
