Xplor reconnects kids to nature and helps them find adventure in their own backyard. Free to residents of Missouri.
A monthly publication about conservation in Missouri. Started in 1938, the printed magazine is free to residents of Missouri.
KIRKWOOD, Mo. — What does it take to take a photograph that changes how people see the natural world? Award-winning Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) photographer Noppadol Paothong will shed light on that question during a special program at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center in Kirkwood Friday, Oct. 9 from 7 - 8 p.m.
Paothong’s photography has been featured in the Missouri Conservationist and Xplor magazines, and many other publications including National Audubon, Ranger Rick, BBC, and the Nature Conservancy.
Join Paothong for an inspiring evening presentation, Conservation in Focus: Lessons from a Life in Photography. Drawing on decades in the field, Paothong will pull back the curtain on what truly separates a good photo from a great one — and share the hard-won lessons from mistakes he’s made along the way. He'll also talk about embracing new technology, how his style and approach have evolved, and how those changes continue to influence his work.
Paothong will offer an exclusive look at ongoing photo projects along with the stories behind the images. He'll wrap up with practical, hands-on advice for anyone who wants to use their own camera, and their own voice, to become a conservationist.
Paothong will share his nature and landscape photography on Powder Valley’s giant high resolution video wall. The video display is 4K resolution and capable of bringing images to life in an immersive way.
The nature center’s doors will open at 6 p.m. to allow visitors the chance for a meet and greet session with Paothong prior to the program. Paothong will remain after the program to visit with attendees as well.
Conservation in Focus: Lessons from a Life in Photography is a free program open to anyone age 9 and up; however, advanced registration is required at http://short.mdc.mo.gov/oxR.
