MDC, partners to host youth waterfowl workshop Oct. 25-26 in Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), in partnership with Delta Waterfowl, invites youth of all ages to a waterfowl education event Oct. 25-26 in Columbia.
On Friday, Oct. 25, participants will learn hunting and firearm safety, waterfowl identification, hunting regulations, waterfowl calling, decoy strategies, blind building, and local conservation area information. Participants will also shoot clay birds. Ammunition will be provided and a limited number of shotguns will be available for loan. Dinner will be provided during this portion of the event.
A limited number of registered applicants will also be invited to participate in a duck hunt on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 26. The drawing for the hunting locations will take place at 5 a.m. that day, so participants should arrive early for preregistration. The hunt will conclude at 1 p.m. Breakfast will be provided as hunters come in from the field. Participants in this portion of the event should bring their own shotguns and waders, if possible. A limited number of shotguns and waders will be available for loan.
This event is free for all participants and is funded by contributions at Central Missouri Delta Waterfowl’s annual banquet. Participants must register for this event by contacting Jake Owens at (573) 480-0621, or jakeo@molitorfinancial.com.
