MDC offers landowner pond workshops in Cole and Morgan Counties
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting a pond management workshop on March 19 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Cole County and March 26 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Morgan County. The workshops are free, but space is limited and participants must pre-register by March 17.
Each workshop will cover a wide variety of topics including pond site selection, pond construction, pond stocking, fisheries management, aquatic vegetation management, pond watershed management, and nuisance wildlife. Professionals from MDC, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will give presentations and will be available to answer questions. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.
The workshop in Cole County will be held at the Conservation Employees Credit Union basement, which is located behind the Missouri Conservation building at 2901 W. Truman Blvd. in Jefferson City.
In Morgan County, the workshop will be held at Morgan County Public Library, 600 N. Hunter Ave. in Versailles.
