COLUMBIA, Mo. —The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will hold a hunter education skills session in Columbia. The class will take place from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the MDC Central Regional Office, 3500 East Gans Road.

Students will learn how to be safe, responsible hunters in this course, and upon passing an exam, will earn a hunter education certification card.

“This skills session will focus on firearm action types and safe handling skills for new hunters,” said MDC Education Consultant Kim Cole. “Participants who pass the course will receive certification in Hunter Education.”

The Missouri Hunter Education Skills Session fulfills the second half of the hunter education certification process. To attend this class, students must first complete the Missouri hunter education online course, or the chapter review questions inside the Missouri hunter education student manual. Students need to bring the online completion certificate or completed student manual to enter the class. Students must be 11 years old by Nov. 1, 2016. Registrants 16 years-old and younger must present a birth certificate, or other proof of age to attend the course.

Attendees must register for this class by Oct. 28. To register for this class, call Cole at 573-815-7900. To learn more about Missouri’s hunter education process, visit
