MDC offers free Spooky Nature Clue Trail hike Oct. 30 in Blue Springs
Kansas City, Mo. – Nature can be a little spooky at times, but much less so when you understand the benefits provided in the web of life by things that creep, crawl, and slither. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free Spooky Nature Clue Trail event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center in Blue Springs.
This program is for all ages and registration is not required. Costumes are welcome in keeping with the Halloween season. In fact, visitors will find MDC staff and volunteers in disguise as spiders, bats, other critters, and perhaps even a not-so-smelly skunk. Staff will also have some live creepy critters for display at nature stations along the trail.
The hike with start at the Missouri Tree Trail trailhead. Visitors can pick up a clue sheet there. Total walking distance is less than one mile. This is an all-outdoor program, so visitors will need to dress appropriately for the weather and hiking. COVID-19 precautions will be observed.
