Trenton, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free Prescribed Fire Workshop 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at the Lager Building on the North Central Missouri College Barton Farm Campus. Prescribed fire is a useful tool to help manage vegetation to improve wildlife habitat or forage pastures.
The workshop will teach how to plan a prescribed burn, strategies and benefits to achieve landowner goals, fire behavior, and the historical role of fire in ecology. Participants will learn about fire safety, equipment, how to develop a burn plan, and organizing burn teams or cooperatives.
Preregistration is required by March 8. Resource materials and a light supper will be provided. This workshop is co-hosted by Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever.To register, call MDC Private Land Conservationist Scott Roy at 660-359-5685, ext. 114.
