SMITHVILLE Mo -- The health and size of whitetail deer on a farm or acreage can be improved with good wildlife habitat management.
With this in mind, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free workshop to help landowners with quality deer management from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Jerry Litton Visitors Center, 16311 Route DD, at Smithville Lake.
Topics will include antlered and antlerless deer harvest, habitat management and nutrition, population survey techniques, biology and deer behavior.
The workshop is limited to 50 participants. Register by Aug. 25 by contacting MDC Private Lands Conservationist Paul Lowry at 816-431-5476, ext. 108, or paul.lowry@mdc.mo.gov.
