Chillicothe, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free ice fishing clinic from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, at the Litton Center Pond near Chillicothe in Livingston County. This clinic is open to individuals or families wishing to learn how to catch fish when winter freezes solid ice atop lakes and ponds.
MDC staff will work with anglers to teach techniques and safety on the ice. Gear and bait will be provided, or participants are welcome to bring their own fishing tackle. Dressing warm will be a necessity as the clinic is on the ice. The pond at the Litton Agri-Science Learning Center has bass, bluegill, and channel catfish, so participants have a good chance of catching fish. The center is at 10780 Liv 235 road, just off Missouri 190, northwest of Chillicothe.
Please register online for the clinic at the MDC events pages, https://mdc.mo.gov/events-s3. For more information, call MDC’s Chillicothe office at 660-646-6122.
