Warsaw, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer a free Father’s Day fishing event from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at the Lost Valley Fish Hatchery at Warsaw. Participants will have a chance to hand paint some plastic crankbaits provided by MDC, and they can go fishing at the hatchery education pond. Experienced anglers and newcomers to fishing are all welcome. Space is limited.
“What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than to custom paint a crankbait and go fishing?” said Kara Entrop, MDC community education assistant.
MDC will provide all materials. Participants can also customize the crankbaits with 3D eyes and hooks. Everything will be provided for the lures and fishing. Anglers may also bring their own gear and any bait not carried in water. MDC staff and volunteers will also assist new anglers with casting, handling equipment, and handling fish. The fishing is catch and release. Individuals and families are welcome to attend.
This event is open to all ages. COVID-19 safety precautions will be observed. Registration is required, to register, visit https://short.mdc.mo.gov/4iM. For more information or help with registration, contact Kara Entrop at 660-438- 4465, ext. 6402, or by email at Kara.Entrop@mdc.mo.gov.
