JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – With archery deer hunting here and firearms deer hunting coming up, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering a free "Field to Freezer" class on how to process the popular game animal.

MDC’s Runge Conservation Nature Center will be holding a “Field to Freezer” class on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 1-4 p.m. The nature center is located on HWY 179 approximately a quarter mile north of HWY 50 in Jefferson City.

This class will use a harvested deer if possible, or the instructor will use technology to show demonstrations of techniques for field dressing, and cutting and packaging the venison for the freezer. The instructor will also answer questions and give safety tips on how to process a deer.

Registration is required by calling 573-526-5544.
