KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds Missouri hunters who hunt with firearms that they must have completed an approved hunter-education certification program unless exempt by age or other factors.
The certification requirement includes those who act as hunting mentors on hunts for others. Certification can also come from another state. MDC recognizes and accepts approved hunter-education certifications from other states.
Missouri hunters using firearms and those acting as adult hunting mentors for others using firearms must successfully complete an approved hunter-education certification program and provide proof of completion to MDC staff unless they meet one of the following exemptions:

MDC offers two options to complete Missouri Hunter Education Certification. The first option is a two-step format for ages 11 years and older that includes a classroom, online, or self-study-guide section followed by an in-person skills session.
