Kansas City, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer two free Adult Summer Camp activities during July at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center in Kansas City. The summer camp events are designed to connect people with nature and outdoor skills.
- A Discover the Blue camp session will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12. Most streams in the western portion of the KC metro area that are south of the Missouri River drain into the Blue River, which flows into the Missouri. Participants will take a hike along the Blue River and collect macro invertebrates from the water. They will learn about practices in the watershed that can cause positive or negative impacts. - Discovery Center will host a Ladies Night Out camp session from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18. This session is open to women ages 16 and older. Registration is not required as it is a walk-in event. Participants can learn and try out outdoor skills such as archery, throwing the atlatl dart, and campfire starting.
