COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites women to attend a free series of shooting clinics for beginners. The three-part series will consist of one night of classroom instruction and two nights of shooting on the range. Trained MDC staff will offer instruction on the basics of firearms safety and shooting rifles, handguns, and shotguns.

The classroom portion will take place 6 – 8:30 p.m. on June 6 at the MDC Central Regional Office at 3500 E. Gans Road in Columbia. Evenings on the shooting range will follow from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on June 13 and June 20. Participants must attend the classroom portion to participate in the range practice portions.

“This fun and informative series is designed for ladies who consider themselves to be beginners and who want to learn more about different types of firearms,” said MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Justin McGuire. “A safe, low-pressure environment will ensure that all participants walk away with more knowledge and confidence.”

This program is free and open to girls and women ages 14-years and older. Participants younger than 18-years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All equipment will be provided.

Space is limited and participants must register for this free workshop by visiting mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/157301.

For more information about this event, contact Justin McGuire at (573) 815-7901, ext. 2866, or Justin.McGuire@mdc.mo.gov
