The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites women to spend two evenings to get a hands-on, outdoors' skills lesson in basic firearm shooting. The class is free, but registration by June 17 is required.
MDC staff and trained firearms instructors will be on hand to help attendees' learn the basics of rifle and shotgun shooting. All firearms, ammunition and targets will be provided. The event is limited to 20 women.
"This class will be a great introduction to shooting rifles and shotguns for the novice or someone who hasn't shot for a while and wants to brush up on their skills," said MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Rob Garver. "Once you know how to safely and properly use a firearm, recreational target shooting can be a fun and safe activity for individuals of all ages."
Attendees should dress for the weather (no open toe sandals), bring a hat, and a water bottle. The class is open to women 14 and older; 14-to 17-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult. To register or for more information, contact Garver at Rob.Garver@mdc.mo.gov or 660-785-2420.
