TRENTON, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will provide young, aspiring hunters with the knowledge and opportunity to bag their first deer during a new youth antlerless deer hunt in Trenton on Dec. 12. By participating, youth ages 11–15 can develop their hunting skills, learn about deer management, and gain valuable outdoor experience.
This youth hunting opportunity is designed to introduce young hunters to the responsibilities and traditions of deer hunting while emphasizing safety, ethical practices, and wildlife conservation. Participants will spend time at the shooting range, review deer hunting regulations, learn about deer processing, and participate in additional educational activities focused on hunting and conservation.
“This event is an opportunity to help young hunters build confidence, develop safe hunting practices, and gain a better understanding of Missouri’s wildlife resources,” said MDC Conservation Agent Joshua Paskiewicz. “By providing hands-on instruction and guidance, we hope to encourage the next generation of responsible hunters and conservationists.”
Eligible participants must be 11 to 15 years old and have successfully completed Hunter Education certification, available at https://mdc.mo.gov/hunting-trapping/hunter-education. The class size is limited to five hunters.
Registration will be open Nov. 1–30 at https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/222507. For additional information or questions about the hunt, contact Agent Paskiewicz at 660-654-2677 or by email at Josh.Paskiewicz@mdc.mo.gov.
Through youth hunting opportunities like this, MDC works to connect young people with Missouri’s outdoors.
