COLUMBIA, Mo. –The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a Discover Nature -- Forest and Wildlife Workshop to give landowners a better understanding about the benefits of managing wooded areas on their property.

MDC private land conservationists will present programs on improving timber, managing woodland landscapes, prescribed fire, ruffed grouse habitat requirements, conducting timber sales, cost-share programs, and wildlife management.

“This is a great opportunity for landowners to learn about forest and wildlife management practices they can implement on their own property,” said MDC Private Land Conservationist Jamie Barton.

The workshop will take place Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the property of Bill and Margie Haag, 8801 Little Tavern Creek Road in Portland.  Lunch will be provided.

Participants must pre-register by Tuesday, April 12, by calling (573) 564-3715, ext. 110.
