JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Ask any fly fisherman, and they will tell you there is nothing more satisfying then hooking a fish with a fly they tied. Discover nature and learn the art of fly tying at the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Runge Conservation Nature Center’s program "Teen Club: Fly Tying" from 1 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 3. Members of the Capital City Fly Fishermen will be teaching the course.

The class is free and open to participants between 12 – 18 years of age. Participants must pre-register by Jan. 2. All equipment and materials will be furnished by Runge Nature Center and Capital City Fly Fishermen.

“This is a great opportunity to pick up a new skill,” said Robin Grumm, Runge Nature Center Naturalist. “After tying flies, we hope all the teens will join us on our teen club trout fishing trip in March to try them out.”

For questions, or to register, contact Runge Nature Center at 573-526-5544.
