MDC Cape Nature Center says ‘Don’t let your bucket list rust’

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – "Bucket Lists" are all the rage these days as cable TV shows promote exotic destinations and home-purchasing opportunities around the world. However, many people's "bucket lists" are filled with opportunities they could take part in close to home. The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will host a program centered on this idea, Thursday, April 28, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Known as the "Fishin' Magicians," Steve Craig and Amy Short will host "Don't Let Your Bucket List Rust," a program full of information, humor, magic and photography. The two have explored Missouri for a lifetime and together for over 30 years.

"Steve and Amy are inspirational in their love for nature and their creative ways of sharing that enthusiasm with others," said Sara Turner, manager of the nature center. "We're fortunate to host their program."

As conservationists, the two both volunteer for the Missouri Department of Conservation. They've participated in Project Wet, Project Learning Tree, Project Wild and Stream Team training and activities, and serve as volunteer docents at the Native Butterfly House in Springfield.

They like to go fishing for whatever is biting and especially enjoy fishing from streams. They also enjoy canoeing, hiking, backpacking, camping, observing wildlife, learning natural history and photographing nature.
