COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites anglers interested in learning how to use baitcaster fishing reels to attend a free workshop in Columbia. The program will take place rain-or-shine, on March 12, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the MDC Central Regional Office, 3500 E. Gans Road.

“The finesse and versatility of a baitcaster allow anglers to take their fishing skills to the next level but learning to use a baitcaster can be a very frustrating process,” said MDC Conservation Education Consultant Emily Porter. “With the proper instruction and practice, this once-anger-inducing reel will become an angler’s best friend.”

Attendees should come prepared to go outside for a portion of the program and are encouraged to bring their own rod and reel combo, though rods and reels will also be available to borrow.

This event is free and open to all ages, but participants age 15-years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is required at mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/165750.

For more information, contact Porter at Emily.Porter@mdc.mo.gov or (573) 815-7901, ext. 2964.
