MDC announces partial reopening of Paydown River Access in Maries County
VIENNA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has reopened the ramp and parking area at Paydown River Access on the Gasconade River.
Paydown River Access is now open for ramp and parking access only. Until further notice, no camping is allowed on the area. Keep out of the construction zone marked by orange fence. Paydown repairs will be completed in the near future, which will require additional closures.
Record spring floods caused extensive damage at the public access which forced the Department to close the area due to public safety concerns. Due to delays with the contracted construction company, the privy remains closed. Floodwaters scoured a large crater underneath the privy at Paydown River Access which caused extensive damage to the structure and slab. MDC has placed orange construction fencing around the hazards and asks visitors to stay clear of the fenced-off area and any construction equipment nearby.
Updates on future closures and full reopening will be posted here: nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/places/paydown-access. MDC advises visitors to check the Paydown River Access website for status updates before planning a trip.
