SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Southwest Missouri is full of opportunities to fish and enjoy the outdoors.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a virtual program on River Fishing for Bass from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 followed by an in-person session 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 22.
The virtual river fishing program will focus on fishing for bass species in local waterways.
“We will talk about locations to fish, strategies, equipment, rules and regulations, and how to catch different species of bass,” said Conservation Educator Andrew Rhodes.

The in-person fishing clinic will take place along Shoal Creek at the Allen Bridge Access, 17831 Iris Road in Neosho. Tackle and supplies will be provided but anglers are welcome to bring their own. Participants may also bring their personal canoes or kayaks, and should come prepared to wade or swim fish.

The Aug. 21 virtual program is recommended but not required to participate in the Aug. 22 fishing clinic. All participants 16 years and older will need a valid Missouri fishing permit.
