SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Fishing for white bass – particularly during the spring spawning run – is an activity that excites many Missouri anglers. Striped bass and hybrid bass also have their devoted following of anglers.
People can learn more about how to hook these popular sportfish at a free Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) program “White Bass (and Their Kin), Fishing for Beginners” from 6:30-8 p.m. on Feb. 13 at MDC’s Springfield Conservation Nature Center. The Nature Center is located at 4601 S. Nature Center Way.
MDC Fisheries Biologists Ben Parnell and Nathan Recktenwald will discuss the biology and management of white bass, striped bass and hybrid bass. Local anglers Bill Butts and Eric McMillan will also provide tips on lure options and fishing techniques for the spring “white bass run” and more. This program is for ages 10-adult. Call 417-888-4237 to register.
