SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Building strong relationships with private landowners has always been an important part of the Missouri Department of Conservation’s mission.

Dave Darrow hopes to help implement conservation strategies with private landowners and conservation partners in his role as the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Private Land Services Division Southwest Regional Supervisor. He will lead MDC’s work with private landowners in the agency’s 17-county Southwest Region. He replaces Stan Sechler, who retired earlier this year.

Darrow brings more than two decades’ of experience working with both private and public land into his current position. He has been with MDC since 1995. The first 22 years with the agency was spent as a wildlife management biologist. After that, he was the MDC Private Land Conservationist for Barton and Jasper counties prior to accepting his current position.

Darrow is a native of Green Bay, WI and earned a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master’s degree in wildlife ecology from Mississippi State University. Prior to coming to MDC, he was a district wildlife supervisor with the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission for four years.

“I’m looking forward to working with a knowledgeable and experienced staff that are great at providing excellent customer service as they help landowners do important habitat work,” he said. “I also want to continue to build great relationships with Missouri landowners.” Darrow is headquartered at the MDC Southwest Regional Office in Springfield and can be reached at 417-895-6880, ext. 1645 or at David.Darrow@mdc.mo.gov.
