Habitactics is a colorful new CD-ROM game for ages 8 through 13 - or adults who are kids at heart. It's two conservation games in one. In the short game, you match Missouri plants and animals to their most important habitats. Special video and sound clips let you see and hear the animals in action. In the long game, you're challenged to conserve land near a city. Biodiversity is the key - it's up to you to enhance the variety of life that's found in each of the six habitats by using the best tools possible. The CD-ROM works with many Mac and MS-DOS systems.

Books

Wildlife experts and naturalists throughout the state were asked to help assemble a guide to Missouri's most spectacular wildlife and nature-viewing sites. The result is the new 120 page book, Missouri Nature Viewing Guide. It includes 101 exceptional areas in Missouri, with detailed directions and information on what kind of wildilfe and facilities visitors will find there.

Just published in 1995, Missouri's Conservation Atlas is a 24-page, large-format book with 114 road maps -one for every county in Missouri. On every page look for complete directions to all Conservation Department areas. State parks and federal lands also appear on the maps. Turn to the detailed area index to learn what facilities, activities and fish and wildlife you can expect to find.

Video

Stamp of Character includes archival black and white footage from the 1920s of the last railroad tie drive on the Black River by the T.J. Moss Tie Company of St. Louis. This sound-enhanced footage provides a unique look at the production of cross ties during a period when forests covered much of Missouri.
