Annual Prospects Report
This 62-acre lake suffered a fish kill in the summer of 2024, removing several of the larger fish. Electrofishing surveys show that the largemouth bass population is quickly recovering. Most catchable fish are 12-15 inches, but there are still a few individuals in the 15 to 17 inch range. Crappie fishing should be good in 2025. Fall netting showed that the majority of crappie are 7 to 10 inches. Bluegill are abundant with most fish measuring 5 to 7 inches. Dedicated anglers may target channel catfish over 20 inches, but yellow bullhead may make finding those fish a challenge. This reservoir is fairly shallow with thick lotus growth around the margins. Fish before July to avoid the lotus. This area offer an ADA covered fishing dock, a concrete boat ramp, an ADA privy, and a large gravel parking lot that offer plenty of room for trucks and trailers.
Take blacktop WW east out of Marceline approximately 1 mile to Lunar Drive (gravel road). Take Lunar Dr. north 1 mile and the lake entrance is on the east side of the road.
