About the Area
Blackburn Park is a nice neighborhood park with woodland habitat that also features baseball fields, tennis courts, walking and biking paths, and gazebos. The most relevant feature of Blackburn Park is the bird sanctuary off of Landscape Ct. in the southeast corner of the park. The sanctuary attracts a surprising number of migrant songbirds. Look for the Eurasian tree sparrow, as well as common native sparrows like the song sparrow, Lincoln’s sparrow, and white-throated Sparrow, depending on the time of year. Walking the paths through the woodland area, you may also see yellow-rumped warbler, black-and-white warbler, and black-throated green warbler. Many other wood warblers stop by the bird sanctuary depending on the year, so be sure to visit often and report your checklist on eBird.
