Hunter Education Skills Session

This skills session will satisfy part two of the Missouri Hunter Education requirements.

To enter the session, you must complete the knowledge portion and provide proof of completion by presenting either a qualifier certificate or a completed hunter education student manual the day of the event.

All students must provide proof of identification and age.

The final exam will be administered at the end of the skills session.

Paddle Sports

Reading the river is an old term used by canoers, kayakers, and other boaters to explain how to travel down a waterway safely. This virtual program will start you on the path to developing important skills needed to look at the waterways of Missouri and make good decisions about how, when, and if to float. Your full name is required at registration along with a viable email address as we will be sending you the link to log into the class the day of. Class will be available ten minutes prior to start time for log-in. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Learn to Fish

Southwest Missouri offers lots of opportunities to fish and enjoy the outdoors. This virtual river fishing clinic will focus on fishing for bass species in our local waterways! We will talk about locations to fish, strategies, equipment, rules and regulations, and how to catch different species of bass. Your full name is required at registration along with a viable email address as we will be sending you the link to log into the class the day of. Whether we're talking about turtles, lizards, or snakes... we think all our Missouri reptiles are pretty rad! Join us for Little Acorns this month to learn all about our amazing reptiles and the things that make them so special. Plus, make a craft to take home with you!

Wildlife

Ready to test your nature knowledge and learn about Missouri’s wildlife along the way? Join Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center Staff for an afternoon of Missouri nature trivia. Gather your trivia team and test your skills for prizes. All ages welcome but best for ages 10 and up. Registration is required.

Ever wonder what it takes to keep the education center reptiles, amphibians, and fish happy? Join us as naturalists introduce and feed several Missouri amphibians and reptiles. No registration is required.

Paddle Sports

This program is designed to help the first-time kayaker understand the basics of one of the most popular watersports in Missouri. We will talk about the types of basic equipment needed to float Missouri’s rivers, lakes, and streams safely. Space is limited so registration is required and please leave a valid email for any follow up information for this program. Dress for the weather and to get wet!
