Henges Range is currently following the spring/summer hour schedule. Check-in at the main range office on the kiosk using a Conservation ID or a manual entry.
Monday-Tuesday: CLOSED
Wednesday- 1:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Thursday - Sunday - 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Closed on state/federal holidays
The staffed facility is part of MDCs Education Branch. The complex includes a 100 yard baffled rifle/pistol range with 20 covered shooting stations with target placement at 7, 15, 25, 50, 75, or 100 yards. The facility also includes 3 trap fields and a shotgun patterning range. During the months of April through September, 5-Stand is offered on WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY ONLY. There is a static archery range with target distances ranging from 10 to 30 yards as well. All listed ranges are ADA accessible. The Jay Henges Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center provides a safe environment for novice to experienced shooters to enjoy the shooting sports.
There is an Education Center onsite that is utilized for educational programs, meetings, and special events throughout the year. Programs put on by the range are free of charge, however registration is required. Participants can register for events at the Events portion of the website.
All payments at the range are CASH or CHECK only, no card or electronic payment is available. Fees for the range are as follows:
$5.00 for one hour on the Rifle/Pistol Range per booth
$5.00 per round of Trap/5-Stand (1 round= 25 clay targets)
$5.00 per hour on the Patterning Range
$5.00 per person on the Static Archery Range
Fees also include paper targets on the Rifle/Pistol Range, and includes rental eye and ear protection if needed. All shooters must bring their own firearms and ammunition to the range. NOTE: No Steel projectiles are allowed to be shot on the Rifle/Pistol range. Certain calibers will be checked upon check-in to ensure compliance with standards of the bullet trap.

From the East/St. Louis: Take I-44 West to Beaumont/Antire Road - exit 269, turn left, cross over I-44 to Antire Road. Turn right on Antire Road. Go 100 feet to entrance and turn left into driveway across from commuter lot. From the West/Eureka: Take I-44 East to Beaumont/Antire Road - exit 269. Follow exit lane around to top; entrance on left across from the MODOT lot.
