Fishing Buddies

The article about the fishing buddies, one being neurodivergent, was excellent and an eye-opener [Focused on the Moment, June, Page 10]. I applaud the older gentleman for his compassion and patience and the younger man for his persistence and grit. Their love of fishing brought them together and helped them overcome any obstacles.

We all can take the time to seek out those special people and find common interests to enhance our lives. The article does a beautiful job of drawing attention to autism and neurodivergence and shows that life can still be beautiful.

Social Science

Thank you for the article on the work of Dr. Ellie Prentice [Nature Lab at Work, April, Page 4]. Social science has everything to do with investigating and understanding the relationship between people and the environment. How do folks perceive the landscape and its inhabitants? What are Missouri’s traditions that need to be maintained, highlighted, and expanded? Are there areas, activities, and groups underserved?  What do people do on their own or in groups?   

You are lucky to have this department and publication to inform, encourage, and celebrate what the state has to offer in the great outdoors. It is all the people — recognized or not — working together to make this happen.

I am grateful to my sister, Susan, who saves the magazines and passes them on to me.
