Ring-billed Gull (Larus delawarensis)

image of ring-billed gullRinged-billed gulls rest in shallow water near a Mississippi River sandbar. During the winter thousands of ringed-bills and herring gulls congregate along large rivers and lakes where fish are abundant. Good places to observe great numbers are near Alton Dam and the Chain of Rocks on the Mississippi River and below Bagnall Dam at the Lake of the Ozarks.
