Home to Roost

Snow drapes rock formations at Piney River Narrows Natural Area in Texas County. This high, narrow "Devil's Backbone," remains as the Big Piney River and West Piney Creek erode their streambeds toward one another. The ridge of hard Jefferson City Dolomite rock resists weathering and erosion, creating 200 foot long narrows.
