Blue-winged teal (Anas discors)
A blue-winged teal drake in breeding plumage glides through the calm waters of a western Missouri marsh. Although many species of ducks migrate in late February and March, blue-wing teal migrations peak in April and continues through May. Blue-winged teal are among the first waterfowl to migrate southward in the fall.--Jim Rathert
