Field to Freezer

Find out how to skin and process the deer you harvest this year. Our presenters will demonstrate techniques, provide examples of equipment and tools, and answer any questions you may have about do-it-yourself processing. This program will take place at the Ozark Regional Office Parking Lot at 551 Joe Jones Blvd, West Plains, MO 65775. If we have cold or rainy weather, it will be moved into our Fisheries bay area (info to follow) NOTE: Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is also registered for the program. Registration required. Ages 6+

Nature Art

Harvest your own spring flowers and bring them to the Ozark regional office in west plains. we will then learn how to press them. There will be a follow up class on may 20th to use your flowers in your own project such as framed in an arrangement, used on christmas ornament,or a glass jar.

Trees

Missouri’s original settlers were very independent and self-sufficient. If they needed an item for their home they usually found a way to make it using materials provided by nature. Kitchen items were no exception. With this in mind, join us and learn how to make a spoon using a Missouri hardwood. This program is designed for ages 14 and up.

Outdoor Cooking

With the start of Trout season upon us come join us online to learn new recipes and techniques to cooking your catch. Registration is required. Participants will receive a class link the morning of the program via E-mail; please check your regular and junk E-mail folders.

Historic and Primitive Skills

Learn about the history behind leather and the different techniques native american and europeans utilized to make leather for different products. We will be creating your own leather Rifle Sling you will design it start to finish and learn valuable skills along the way.
