Deer Hunting: Field to Freezer

Find out how to skin and process the deer you harvest this year. We will use our video to demonstrate techniques. We will also show examples of equipment and tools used and provide answers to any questions you may have about do-it-yourself processing. Ages 6+. All attendees must be registered for the program. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult attendee.

Trapping

Join us to learn how to use trapping as a nuisance wildlife control technique and find enjoyment in being in nature at the same time. Trapping used to be a great source of income for families, but remains a fun and useful hobby. This is a beginner's program.

Historic and Primitive Skills

Learn about the history behind leather and the different techniques native american and europeans utilized to make leather for different products. We will be creating your own leather Knife sheath you will design it start to finish and learn valuable skills along the way. You will need to bring your own knife it can be a straight blade or a pocket knife whatever you prefer. If you need help registering please call the Twin Pines Conservation Center at 573-325-1381

This class is a series of 12 programs that meets once each month all year long, though you may join at any time. You will learn to use simple, but beautiful embroidery techniques to stitch quilt blocks of different species of concern in MO. Examples include Spotted Skunk, Alligator Snapping turtle, Hell Bender, and Ozark Chinquapin. At each class you will learn about one of the Species and it's history, habitat preferences, and its importance to Missouri.

Virtual program: Ever wondered what to do after you take the shot? This hands-on workshop walks you through the essential skills every small-game hunter should know—how to properly clean and process a squirrel from the field to the freezer.

Participants will learn safe, ethical, and efficient techniques for skinning, gutting, and preparing squirrels for cooking and storage.
