MDC offers text updates for activities at Nature Centers
Kansas City, Mo. – Everything is up to date in Kansas City, including how the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) provides updates about events and happenings at the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center and the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center. Both MDC sites are now offering text message alerts. Subscribers will receive up to six texts a month to remind them of free events, or perhaps to note interesting nature tidbits, such as frost flowers appearing in winter or rare bird sightings in summer.
To sign up for Discovery Center texts, text the words “MDC Discovery” to 468311. The Center at 4750 Troost Ave. in Kansas City offers educational programs year round for all ages. Many visitors enjoy strolling on the short trail loops in the outdoor garden to enjoy wildlife, native wildflowers, prairie grasses, flowering native shrubs and native trees. Park Road in Blue Springs offers educational programs, indoor nature exhibits, hiking trails, a natural play area for children and a large aquarium with native Missouri fishes.
