Sedalia, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer a free Discover Nature — Fishing and Outdoor Skills family event 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club. This event is designed to help families gain how-to outdoor skills and learn about nature.
MDC staff and volunteers will teach participants basic fishing skills, archery, target shooting, and fish cooking. Participants have the option of trying trap shooting with shotguns, and how to clean and cook fish. MDC will provide loaner gear for all activities including shooting and fishing. Anglers wanting to keep fish they catch need to bring a cooler with ice. Youths ages 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. A free lunch will be provided by Subway.
Space is limited for the event. Participants are asked to register in advance by May 9. For information or to register, call MDC’s Sedalia office at 660-530-5500.
