MDC offers deer management workshop at Jamesport

Jamesport, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free Whitetail Deer Management workshop 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Jamesport City Park Community Building, 708 S. Grant St., in Jamesport. Experts will discuss white-tailed deer and how land management practices can improve deer herd health, growth and population. Hunting regulations and tips will also be presented.

Topics covered will include food plot fundamentals, information about plant varieties good and bad for food plots, hunting regulation changes for the 2016-17 seasons, and how to map out hunting strategies.

MDC staff will make presentations about programs and expertise available to help private landowners improve deer habitat. Alex Foster of the Quality Deer Management Association will also be a featured speaker.
