KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Fishing helps people discover nature and conserve it, too. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites kids and families to a day of free fishing 9 a.m. – noon on Saturday, June 10, at the MDC Northeast Regional Office in Kirksville, 3500 South Baltimore Road.

MDC staff and volunteers will teach participants about fish, fish habitat, and fishing techniques, including casting and knot tying. The free event will also include plenty of catch and release fishing, and goody bags will be available for kids. MDC will provide bait for everyone, but participants are encouraged to bring their own poles, as only a very limited supply of loaner rods will be available.

No registration is required for this FREE program, and all ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Fishing is a great way for everyone to have fun outdoors, learn about conservation, and make lasting memories together. Discover Nature – Fishing programs help Missourians gain the skills and confidence to go fishing on their own.
