MDC to host white-tailed deer management workshop

Chillicothe, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free white-tailed deer management workshop 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Comfort Inn Suites Conference Center, 250 W. Business 36, in Chillicothe. This workshop will provide expert advice on managing deer on private land, provide an overview of Missouri deer research, note hunting regulation changes, and discuss establishing landowner cooperatives to improve deer habitat.

Speakers at the workshop will include: Jon McRoberts, a University of Missouri research scientist who is leading a major deer study in the state in partnership with MDC; Kevyn Wiskirchen, MDC private lands deer biologist; Scott Roy, MDC private land conservationist, Jake Strozewski, MDC conservation agent, and Alex Foster, Quality Deer Management Association.
